MISSION

To protect, enhance and beautify the water of the East Okoboji, Upper Gar, Minnewashta, and Lower Gar Lakes through promotion of watershed stewardship and education.

MEETINGS

The EOLIC board meets at 7 p.m. the second Thursday of March, April, May, September, October and November at the Spirit Lake Public Library, 702 16th St., and the third Monday of June, July and August at the Orleans City Hall or Spirit Lake Library.

GOALS

  1. Work with the IOWATER program to analyze water flowing into our lakes.
  2. Promote construction of rain gardens and other urban conservation practices.
  3. Cooperate with farmers to implement agriculture conservation practices.
  4. Expand awareness of aquatic invasive species to prevent their spread to our lakes.
  5. Monitor the health of our lakes for water quality.
  6. Promote lake friendly lawn care.
  7. Collaborate with the Clean Water Alliance, Iowa Environmental Council and other groups on issues of common concern.
