Old Business
Storm water problems behind Francis Sites
A lengthy discussion took place about this issue. Although this topic has been discussed many times, no action has taken place. The board feels that there are two reasons to support this issue. Those reasons being safety and the erosion that the issue is causing. It is felt that the city of Spirit Lake and the County Board of Supervisors need to solve the problem. Bill Maas agreed to contact Dan Eckert and Jim Sholly to gain support for the problem.
Board Member Replacement
No action taken
Lakeshore Restoration Project with Jim Sholly
Jim Sholly had drafted a letter for this project that was sent to Mike Maffin and Steve Richards. In the letter Jim was asking for input to the draft copy. Because printed copies were not available to all board members at the time of the meeting, the board delayed their comments on the letter until all board members have had an opportunity to read the letter.
Advertising spots on KUOO
Steve Richards reported that KUOO is willing to help us with advertising spots at the price quoted at the previous meeting. No action was taken.
New Business
The Direction of EOLIC for Future Years
The board decided that they would like to organize a meeting with the other protective associations to see if there are some common concerns that could be addressed through collaboration of the agencies. Bill Maas will make the appropriate contacts to establish interest and a date.
Other issues, announcements, group sharing, etc
Gus Tallman discussed editorials that he had read about the water run-off from farm ground in Minnesota to the Iowa Great Lakes Region.
